This photo was taken at Vientiane, the capital city of Laos.
There isn’t much to do in Vientiane and not much to see either aside from the Patuxai War Monument which means the Victory Gate or the Gate of Triumph.
This is an HDR shot (combining 3 exposures) and I think it is one of the first ones I ever took as I bought my NEX-7 just before leaving Thailand on a train to Laos. I just finished watching Trey Ratcliff’s HDR tutorial and was eager to try it out myself and the Patuxai Monument was a great place to start.
Since I was very new to the whole HDR concept I didn’t really like how it turned out in color and I thought that the black and white version was much more interesting so I went with that.
