Sunset Jungle Storm

This photo was taken on my up to the Phnom Bakheng temple in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Phnom Bakheng is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva, it was built at the end of the 9th century, during the reign of King Yasovarman (889-910). Since it is located atop a hill, it is a popular tourist spot for sunset views of the much bigger temple Angkor Wat, which lies amid the jungle about 1.5 km to the southeast.

On the way up to the temple, I found this viewpoint and was able to take this photo of the sunset storm. As it happens I “closed” the shot with the trees and branches on the right, left, and the top part which resulted in a pretty interesting composition that puts the focus on the storm clouds, the rain, and the sunset in the middle.
